Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information NJBIOME (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit https://njbiome.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies only to this website, not to information collected offline or through other websites.
NJBIOME is an educational website. You do not need to create an account to read our content, and we do not sell your personal information.
Questions? Email contact@njbiome.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you send us a message through our contact form, we receive your name, email address and message, plus anything else you choose to include. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever your email contains.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our web host and the tools described below automatically record technical information when you visit. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit.
Comments. If comments are enabled on a post and you leave one, we store the name, email address and comment you submit, along with your IP address and browser details to help detect spam. Your email address is not shown publicly.
2. How we use information
We use information to:
- reply to messages you send us;
- run, maintain, secure and back up the website;
- understand which articles are useful so we can improve our content;
- detect and prevent spam, abuse and security threats;
- display advertising, if ads are shown on the site (see section 4).
We do not use your contact-form details for marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
3. Google Analytics and Google Site Kit
We use Google Analytics and Google Search Console, connected through the Google Site Kit WordPress plugin, to understand how visitors find and use our site. Examples include which pages are popular, how people arrive and roughly where they are located. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this usage data. We look at the reports in aggregate; we do not use them to identify individual visitors.
You can learn how Google uses this data at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
4. Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)
NJBIOME may show ads served by Google AdSense and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and others on the internet.
You can:
- turn off personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings;
- opt out of some third-party vendors’ personalised ads at www.aboutads.info;
- read more in Google’s advertising policies.
We have no access to or control over the cookies that third-party advertisers use.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our service providers use them to keep the site working, to measure traffic (section 3) and, where applicable, to show ads (section 4). If you leave a comment, WordPress may also set cookies that remember your name and email for next time.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
6. Sharing your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers who help us run the site, such as our web hosting provider, Google (Analytics, Search Console and advertising) and our WordPress plugins, which process data on our behalf;
- when required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of our site and visitors.
7. How long we keep information
We keep contact-form messages and emails only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, then delete them. Comments may remain on the site until removed. Google Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings in our Google Analytics account. Website backups are kept for a limited period for security and recovery.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information. To use any of these rights, email contact@njbiome.com. We will respond within one month and may need to verify your identity first.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (GDPR), you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to erase your data;
- restrict or object to our processing of your data;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information. Where advertising cookies count as “sharing” under California law, you can opt out using the ad settings links in section 4. We will not discriminate against you for using these rights.
9. Children’s privacy
NJBIOME is written for students and general readers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly. We encourage parents and guardians to guide their children’s online activity.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the site and the information we hold, including keeping software updated and making regular backups. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, however.
11. Third-party websites
Our articles link to other websites. This policy does not cover them, so please review their privacy policies before sharing any information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date above.
